TWI and our fellow project partners are due to hold an in-person event in the Philippines to present the concept of the innovative and life-changing the IMPHORAA project.
The event is taking place at the Shangri-la Hotel The Fort, Manila on 6 February 2023 from 13.00pm.
Ideal for anyone involved in the energy sector and municipalities, as well as community leaders and energy financing professionals, the event will detail how IMPHORAA has been working to deliver electrification, water purification and cooling solutions for off-grid communities in the Philippines, under the context of the Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst programme and UK aid support to developing countries.
The project aims to deliver an affordable power infrastructure based on a progressive, bottom-up approach using expandable solar systems that can deliver power to up to six neighbouring households or community users per grid. Mobile pre-payment will allow access to users of this flexible service, which can be adapted in line with the needs of the local community’s users.
This solution delivers results more sustainably and efficiently than the current decentralised solutions while also building a progressive, bottom-up 21st Century smart power infrastructure.
In addition, this innovative model promotes entrepreneurship for rural communities through the installation and maintenance of the nano-grid systems. This business model unlocks finance and a wider deployment at scale for a currently under-served market segment in the Philippines.
The addition of cooling and water-pumping solutions adds an extra layer of provision that offers food and medicine security, which is particularly important in this region that is prone to suffer catastrophic events such as floods, typhoons, tsunamis or earthquakes.
IMPHORAA is delivering a genuinely people-focused solution to improve the lives of those in rural communities.
