Who is the MBA programme for?

Professional qualifications deemed to be of equivalent standing will be considered on an individual basis. Additionally, a minimum of three years appropriate professional experience is required.
How is the programme delivered?
The LCBS EMBA uses a highly structured approach of six modules, totalling 180 credits, apprentices study part-time over two years of study. These have been formulated to cover traditional business functions via modules including Strategy in Turbulent Times and Financial Decision Making. The EMBA also uses interdisciplinary perspectives that challenge the status quo. It expands leadership approaches using themes of sustainability, social responsibility and ‘jobs of tomorrow’, for example, Future of Work, Business and Sustainability and Leadership Practicum.
What is an apprenticeship?
The MBA is supported by the UK Government and the employer through the Apprenticeship Levy. Find out more about how apprenticeship funding works on the Department for Education website.
An apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme for the individual’s immediate job and future career. The job must have a productive purpose and should provide the Apprentice with the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to achieve the apprenticeship. The Apprentice gains these through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practise these new skills in a real work environment. (Education & Skills Funding Agency, 2019)
For the LCBS EMBA, these knowledge, skills and behaviours are aligned with the Senior Leaders Standard. This defines a leader as someone who has senior management responsibility and can include formal governance / director responsibilities.
The individual student is responsible for direction and vision, providing a clear sense of purpose and driving strategic intent. They take into account market trends and environmental influences, identifying longer-term opportunities and risks.
Through inclusive leadership, they are responsible for developing ethical, innovative and supportive cultures with the ability to deliver results. They are a role model, with responsibility for those in senior positions and/or significant organisational budgets. Specific job roles may include: Senior Leader, Section Leader, Executive, Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Information Officer and so on. (Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education, 2021)
