Konstantinos Kouzoumis has published a paper in the International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping.
The research was co-authored by Konstantinos' Academic Supervisor Professor Mahmoud Mostafavi from the University of Bristol, and Industrial Supervisor, TWI Technology Fellow Professor Isabel Hadley.
The paper describes the validation of the fracture clauses of BS 7910 against the results of hundreds of large-scale laboratory tests, mainly in the form of plates and pipes.
The work formed part of the PhD submission for Konstantinos, but has also informed some changes in the most recent revision of BS 7910 (last updated in late 2019).
Commenting on the research work, Konstantinos Kouzoumis said, "I am thrilled about my work on experimental validation of the British fitness for service standard and the improvements this exercise helped us achieve."

Konstantinos joined the PhD Programme at NSIRC in 2017, supported by the University of Bristol and sponsored by the TWI Core Research Programme.
His research title 'effect of biaxiality on engineering critical assessments' focused on biaxial loading and, in particular, the application loads in two perpendicular directions, as well as the fitness for service capability of standards BS 7910, involving the accurate assessment of operating capability of components under biaxial load.
